The landslide of Democratic wins across California and the U.S. in November have shown that the people are ready to shift power back into progressive hands after the disastrous results of the 2024 Republican power-grab. The upcoming 2026 Midterm Elections are the next major opportunity that Californians have to assert our identity and elect leaders into office who will put communities first. We have no time to waste.
After months of due diligence meeting with communities on the ground, extensive vetting of candidates in key races across California, and assessments from environmental justice leaders across the coalition, we have identified key leaders that are life-long leaders for a just future.
CEJA Action is proud to announce its early endorsements for candidates who have demonstrated their commitments to championing environmental justice.
Vote for them in the CA Primary on June 2, 2026!

Sandra Celedon
Assembly District 31 (Fresno)
A dedicated public and environmental health leader of over 20 years, Sandra Celedon lives by environmental justice values and has championed initiatives that have brought in millions of dollars in funding for Fresno’s green spaces and schools.
I am proud of CEJA Action’s endorsement of Sandra Celedon for State Assembly. For over a decade, I have seen Sandra time after time bring our community together to secure critical investments in public health, education, and green spaces for Fresno. She was instrumental in the passage of Measure P, which has led to dozens of parks being built and restored in Fresno. Additionally, she helped unite community-based organizations during the pandemic to ensure that the most vulnerable communities across Fresno County received the care and resources they needed. I am confident that she is the voice Fresno county needs in Sacramento to bring truly transformative change for and alongside our community.

Fatima Iqbal-Zubair
Assembly District 65 (Los Angeles)
As an educator, immigrant, and environmental policy advocate, Fatima Iqbal-Zubair deeply understands how climate policy intersects with healthy neighborhoods, good union jobs, public health, and affordable housing for a healthy future.
Fatima Iqbal-Zubair is the environmental justice champion that frontline families and workers need in Sacramento. Fatima has a proven track record that shows she will take a bold stance against Big Oil, and fight for California to invest our resources into systems of care, affordable housing, and clean energy jobs so our communities can live healthy and dignified lives. We proudly endorse her for AD 65.

CEJA Action is the only statewide, people of color-led alliance with deep expertise on environmental and climate justice issues faced by communities on the frontline of long-term pollution, systemic racism and regulatory negligence. We are the only alliance that builds the political power of environmental justice communities with strong infrastructure focused on mobilizing voters on candidate races. Our Primary Voter Guide reflects our Alliance’s deep-rooted community organizing – and we’ve endorsed candidates who will advance critical policies to improve the health and quality of life for communities of color.
